Whanganui Coast and Kai Iwi Beach

November 25, 2011 Leave a comment Go to comments

On the way up to Mount Taranaki we made a detour via Kai Iwi Beach and invented a new game – Poo Pumice. The idea is that it is like  Poo Sticks, but played with pumice from the beach. Drop the pumice into the river at the top of the beach, first pumice to the sea wins.

so much fun - and for free (apart from the hospital bills)

windy - as usual

The black volcanic sands made a nice foot warmer away from the strong winds as we explored the fast eroding soft clay cliffs. We also liked the never ending supply of driftwood, there would be no shortage of fire wood here in winter.

in search of the perfect photo

wood collectors dream - julia this is for you!
