Santiago – Goodbye South America

November 1, 2011 Leave a comment Go to comments

The last 5 weeks have been amazing, in many ways much easier and more accessible than we expected. The hostals and the buses being the real revelations.

Santiago in some ways finished our stay nicely – we tried to think how to describe the place, and without being too unkind, it is less of everything: less dirty, less cultural, less noisy, less friendly, less open, less interesting, less expensive. We are glad we came as it now gives us a base for future travels – 3 essential destinations are now pencilled in: Bolivia, Peru and Colombia. Until next time, a few pictures of Santiago…….Hasta Luego.

the Andes are a great backdrop through the smog

whilst a mixture, the architecture is much prettier than Buenos Aires

Down time on the monkey bars meant 3 days of bandages for blistered bleeding palms.
