Family Visit

We had been looking forward to them coming over for a while, and true to form the 4 days we had with the family coming over were brill. Every day was packed out, but I think it is fair to say the essentials were well covered. As an initiation to the hordes of tourists, were covered the castle first, after which things could only be less busy (with the exception of Charles’ Bridge which is a nightmare at any time of day or night!). A brisk climb up the steps of St Vitus Cathedral and we were well rewarded with magnificent views over Prague. From here you can put the city into some context.

The Saturday was spent in the much more pleasant surroundings of Vysehrad, the original 14th century seat of the kings. The highlight for us was Jo getting stabbed by the Lime Hawk moth Caterpillar. A great big fleshy thing with a blue spike.

After a wet trip out to Karlstejn on the Sunday, we finished with a relaxed resume in the old town. All this laced with great beer and overpriced tickets to tourist honeypots. (although I think secretly that their favourite bit may have been the market as an antidote to the architecture.)
