The TV tower from late 60’s and early 70’s is a real landmark in these parts, partly through it’s striking architecture, and partly because it is built on the highest hill around. The cable car for the winter ski season takes you up past the ski jumps, where we watch someone completely mad do a jump on the dry ski slope and anyone who has fallen on a dry ski slope knows how much it hurts if you get it wrong.

At the top there is little else to do apart from have a coffee and admire the view. For anyone liking architecture, the original and retained 1970’s detailing is a proper treat. The middle section is a hotel, the views from the bedrooms look like the views from the inside of the Soyuz space capsule. (the tower does look like a rocket after all).

The only other thing that looked really cool, but we missed out on because we were running  late, was the scooter hire for grown ups. These are serious downhill scooters, the front wheel being from a mountain bike with front and back brakes. You hire them at the summit, top up your life insurance and scream off down the side of the mountain. At the bottom you park them next to the pub where you slowly recover (après-scooter?). Even better, you can hire them with child seats on the front!!!!!

Neat blog! Is your theme custom made or did you download it from somewhere? A design like yours with a few simple adjustements would really make my blog jump out. Please let me know where you got your design. Thanks a lot

      Hi Eva,
Thanks for your comments, my template is a pretty standard INove free template from WordPress. The only adjustments I make when I publish is to use the html command to give the site an easier navigation feel. My next step will be to tweak to “More” command to get the whole page in view rather than simply what is after the more tag. Another site I have seen thistechnique on is the far superior http://www.adventurouskate.com, but I know that her site is more bespoke. Good luck with your blog, send me a link if your have a chance. Alan.

Greetings from California! I’m bored at work so I decided to browse your blog on my iphone during lunch break. I enjoy the knowledge you provide here and can’t wait to take a look when I get home. I’m shocked at how fast your blog loaded on my cell phone .. I’m not even using WIFI, just 3G .. Anyhow, great site!

Hello to you in California, nice to have visitors from all over!
Pleased to hear it is working over 3G. It is one of the main reasons I moved from Blogger to WordPress was the automatic “simplification” for iphone/tablet devices. The main page is a bit more interactive though. Feel free to leave comments elsewhere if you like the site. Thanks, Alan.
